ABOUT THE SCHOOL
Kiddie Skills Montessori is a Centre, where we provide a range of service that promotes survival, growth, and development of the young child and also develop preschool skills which is the foundation for learning success.
Most experts now agree that early years is the most important and critical stage in a child’s life and at Kiddie Skills we make every effort to provide the stimulation and security that young children need.
Our centre is a stimulating environment with an informal feel, where each has the opportunity to develop socially, physically, intellectually, emotionally and Spiritually , in effect the complete development of the child.
The school is made up of two Department the preschool and the Grade school. The preschool curriculum is a blend of the Montessori and the International Preschool Curriculum (I P C ) and it aims to help teachers carry out the preschool program in accordance with the readiness, capability, ability, talent and interest of the pupils.

TEACHING METHODOLOGY
Our teaching methodology is a merge approach, Montessori and Jolly phonics approach to literacy practices. A child centered approach, that is the interest and achievement of the child will be encouraged and directed by the teacher with the concept of learning through play.
With our motto ‘Excellence is our ultimate’ as a guide principle we promise that children on their own will guide qualified staff in their own personal, social, emotional and intellectual development.

PHILOSOPHY (THE MONTESSORRI METHOD)
Montessori Approach is a system of education for young children that seeks to develop natural interests and activities rather than use formal teaching methods.
The Montessori Method of education children was first introduced by Dr. Maria Montessori in (1870 – 1952) an Italian Physician and Educationalist.
Dr. Maria Montessori believed that no human being is educated by another person. He must do it himself or it will never get done. A truly educated individual continues learning long after the hours and years he has spend in the classroom because he is motivated from within by natural curiosity and love for knowledge.
Maria Montessori method of teaching is based on a child centered approach in educating the whole of the child that is, physical, emotional, intellectual, and social. She believed that in an attractive and stimulating prepared environment, the child should be allowed freedom within limit which is governed by classroom rules, which the child is trained to follow. This means the child has freedom in the classroom to move around and to choose his/her own work. The child is encouraged and directed to work by the teacher. The teacher also ensures that the child exhibits good discipline.
Working with Montessori equipment helps to develop the children’s individual basic skills, increases their concentration span and gives them an excellent understanding of the world and their environment.

Emphasis is placed on one to one teaching to ensure that the child reaches an excellent standard whilst learning at his/her speed. Working in small groups prepares children for primary school and helps with their social development.
Jolly phonics philosophy
The philosophy behind Jolly Phonics is simple: Words are made up from sounds.
The linguists argue as to how many sounds, but for the purposes of teaching very young children, 42 is quite enough and works. So, first teach the children the sounds, making it as fun and easy for them to remember as possible
